This Place Meant was an Arts Council England-funded pilgrimage of immersive sound, art, heritage and landscape experiences presented across 11 locations throughout Kent between December 2025 and June 2026.

Created by Sound Emergence lead artists André Braga-Verissimo and Sasha Maye Bruce, the project brought together 17 artists from different disciplines and engaged more than 550 audience members. Building on the success of Church + Coast, it explored how places acquire meaning through pilgrimage, migration, work, memory and belonging -and how those meanings change depending on who encounters them.

The project was co-produced by artists Louise Webb and Didier Rochard.

Church + Coast was an Arts Council England-funded pilgrimage of immersive sound, heritage and community experiences presented in nine historic churches between Folkestone and Winchelsea from April to July 2024.

Created by Sound Emergence lead artists André Braga-Verissimo and Sasha Maye Bruce, and produced by Didier Rochard, the project invited audiences to experience ancient buildings and coastal landscapes in a new way - through contemplative live sound, creative participation and the stories held within each place.

FolkeFest: Folkestone Contemporary Folk Festival ran from 21–27 March 2022 as an accessible, multicultural and inclusive celebration of contemporary folk arts. Founded and artistically directed by Didier Rochard, the week-long pilot presented 20 events involving 40 acts and 101 artists and performers across 14 Folkestone venues. It attracted 1,049 audience visits, including 939 attendances at live events and workshops and a further 110 visits to exhibitions.

The festival is being re-launched in 2027 under And Gather CIC and joining forces with Folkestone Puppet Theatre and Folkestone DocsFest.
